CGS unit expressing the magnetic flux density. It is named after the German physicist Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss. The magnetic flux density when 1 [Mx] of magnetic flux passes through a surface with an area of 1 [cm²] is 1 [G]. 1 [G] = 10^-4[T], the SI unit for magnetic flux density.
