  • Users are solely responsible for making preliminary tests to determine the suitability of magnets for their intended use, and should check suitability beforehand with samples. Statements concerning possible or suggested uses made herein may not be relied upon, or be construed, as a guaranty of no patent infringement.
  • The rare earth magnets described herein have been designed, manufactured, and developed solely for industrial use only; such magnets are not designed for, intended for use as, or suitable for, contact with the human body and /or ingestion by humans or animals. Users have the sole responsibility and obligation to determine the suitability of the rare earth magnets described herein for any application, to make preliminary tests, and to confirm the safety of such products for their use.
  • A magnet will oxidize (rust) whenever the surface plating breaks away or the surface coating peels off through contact with another magnet or material. Accordingly, if the magnet is hit or dropped, you should only use it after inspection to confirm whether the plating or coating is undamaged. YOU SHOULD NEVER USE MAGNETS THAT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE SURFACE PLATING OR COATING HAS BEEN REMOVED, WORN DOWN, CHIPPED, OR BROKEN OFF.
  • The degree of magnetization of a magnet will be reduced when a magnet is heated, and its magnetic properties will be completely lost at the Curie point. Accordingly, the magnetic properties of any given magnet will differ substantially from its specifications based on the operating temperatures at which such magnet is used. IN DETERMINING THE SUITABILITY OF A PARTICULAR MAGNET, USERS MUST CONSIDER THE TEMPERATURE PROPER OF SUCH MAGNET, PREVENT TEMPERATURES FROM RISING EXCESSIVELY DURING ASSEMBLY AND USE, AND DESIGN MAGNETIC CIRCUITS TO ENSURE THAT DEMAGNETIZATION WILL BE MINIMIZED.
  • Records inside a magnetic storage medium may be destroyed or corrupted when a magnet is brought nearby. USERS MUST NEVER BRING A MAGNET NEAR A FLOPPY DISK, MAGNETIC CARD, MAGNETIC TAPE, MOs, MDs, PREPAID CARD, OR OTHER SIMILAR DEVICE.
  • Placing magnets close to cathode ray, speakers, CD players, DVD players, mobile phones or similar devices may cause problems or interfere with normal operation. NEVER BRING A MAGNET NEAR ELECTRONIC, VISUAL OR COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT.
  • Electronic devices or instrument panels are adversely affected when exposed to a nearby magnet. ACCORDINGLY, USERS MUST NEVER BRING A MAGNET (OR EQUIPMENT CONTAINING A MAGNET) NEAR AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE, CONTROL PANEL, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL, OR USE A DEVICE INSIDE AN AIRPLANE: SUCH MISUSE MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS MALFUNCTION AND ACCIDENTS.
  • NEVER BRING A MAGNET NEAR A PERSON WITH A PACEMAKER OR OTHER ELECTRONIC MEDICAL DEVICE: THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND MAY BE LIFE THREATENING. The normal operation of the medical device may become impeded.
  • NEVER SWALLOW A MAGNET OR PLACE A MAGNET WITHIN THE REACH OF CHILDREN OR MENTALLY IMPAIRED ADULTS. If a magnet is swallowed, CONSULT A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY AND/OR SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTON.
  • If you have a strong allergic reaction to metals, your skin may roughen or redden when your skin comes in contact with a magnet. To avoid such symptoms, you should avoid all skin contact with magnets.
  • NEVER DRINK WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS WITH WHICH A RARE EARTH MAGNET HAS COME IN CONTACT. The constituents of rare earth magnets dissolve in water.
  • Avoid use, and storage, in the environments given below. Use or storage in the following or similar environments may cause corrosion of the rare earth magnet as well as deterioration of the properties and strength of the magnet:
  • Corrosive gas atmosphere (Cl2,NH3,SOx,NOx, etc. ).
  • Environments of high conductivity(e. g., in water containing electrolytes, etc. ).
  • Hydrogen atmosphere.
  • Acidic, alkaline, and organic solvents, etc.
  • In water or in oil.
  • Environments of high temperature and humidity.
  • Open outdoor locations
  • Environments with radiation exceeding the background level.
  • Be very careful in handling rare earth magnets;upon minor impact such rare earth magnets can break and chip easily. The user must never process the magnet by cutting or dividing or similar process, since this will lead to deterioration of such magnet's properties resulting in, among other things, poor magnetism or demagnetization.
  • The alloy powder of a rare earth magnet is designated under the Fire Service Law of Japan, as a Class 2 ( combustible solid ) Type 1 hazardous substance in Japan. Since the fine powder produced by friction during the use of a magnet is combustible, and ignite spontaneously, the user must never use a magnet in ways that will give rise to magnet powder. If such powder is produced, the user must never leave the powder in the air, but must store the powder in a container filled with water. In addition, the user must use caution and care by doing the following.
  • Never bring the powder near a flame or a flammable object.
  • Never use electric vacuum cleaners.
  • Always have a powder fire extinguisher, or sand, or similar materials, available for use in case of fire.
  • An extremely strong attractive force ( or repulsive force between magnets ) will arise between magnetized rare earth magnets or between a magnet and a magnetic substance or both, such as a piece of iron. Since unexpected injury to the user's hand or fingers may be sustained if a hand or finger becomes sandwiched during transport or assembly or by loss of balance of the body due to the attractive or repulsive force, the user must use appropriate jigs and extreme care in handling a magnet. A magnetized rare earth magnet should be labeled as being magnetized, and covered with a wooden box, or other nonmagnetic material.
  • If a magnet is to be adhered to a yoke, or similar item, then the user should select the proper adhesive agent or adhesion method to ensure that there will be no mechanical distortions after adhesion. If residual strain will be applied to the magnet during its use, then the magnet may crack upon minimal impact with another material. If an adhesive agent is to be used to bond the magnet to another magnet, a yoke, or a pole piece, or other similar object, the user must carefully test and examine the type, quantity, conditions, strength, and other properties and characteristics of the adhesive agent, and test for reliability.
